About

The Art Masterpiece program is designed to build an appreciation for fine art while also allowing children to explore their own creativity and foster self expression. Did you know that studies have proven that art encourages cognitive, analytical, and creative thinking skills? It also strengthens physical coordination and develops self-discipline. And here’s the best part—the kids love it!

FAQs

Who runs and teaches Art Masterpiece?

We all do! This program's success hinges fully on parent participation and volunteers. Because of this, we created this site to help volunteers and give you the resources you need to have fun with your classroom.

What Art Masterpiece IS:

Parent volunteers prepare and present a 5-15 minute lesson on a artist or an art form based on lesson plans available on this website and the classroom folders. Then the volunteer leads the class in an art project inspired by the lesson.

What Art Masterpiece IS NOT:

A program only for creative or artistic parents. Any adult can participate, and you don’t have to be creative—just organized and willing!

Can I create my own Lessons? Or do I have to go with the ones that are provided?

Absolutely! We want you to have fun and if you have ideas you should run with it. But keep in mind that we are attempting to create a loose structure in order to steer the program more towards the California State Art Development guide as well as adhere to the National Art Masterpiece program. Please use these lessons as guides to help you with your lesson plan, and if possible read the state requirements linked on the homepage.
